Matthew Garrett: making laptops work with Linux

One of the difficulties in getting Linux to perfectly work on laptops is that there is a lot of legacy from the Windows world in OS - BIOS interaction with APM, then ACPI, then WMI. People like Matthew Garrett are doing a great job in playing catch-up:
